We remember.

New here? You’ve stumbled upon Day 4 of the #FindBeautyChallenge! Find all the details here.

This step is my favorite and the one I use most often.

Watching Henry write his Valentines, I remember when he only wrote “H.”
An old song comes on the radio, and I remember it from the years Keith and I lived 4 hours apart.
Unprompted, Henry tells me about his day. I remember when he couldn’t.
When a local friend sends an encouraging text, I remember when I was new and had no friends.

You get the idea? I remember where we’ve been, recognize how far we’ve come, and rejoice.

Remember. Recognize. Rejoice.

Special needs parenting has cultivated an attitude of gratitude in me, but I believe anyone can do it. What obstacles have you overcome? What challenges have you endured? How have you been strengthened as a result? Where do you see light where you once saw darkness?

“Here I raise my Ebenezer
Hither by Thy great help I’ve come”

Remember. Recognize. Rejoice.

New here? Glad you made it! I write about my unique joys and challenges as Mom to Henry, a smart, tender, quick-witted, train-loving, autistic 8-year-old with an infectious smile. I long to encourage autism parents and empower all to see inclusivity doesn’t have to be difficult - it can be beautiful.
